The Benefits of Upgrading to a New Heating System
If these signs sound familiar, replacing your heater might be the best option.
While the upfront cost of a new system can seem daunting, the long-term benefits are worth it:
- Energy efficiency: Newer heaters are designed to use less energy, which means lower utility bills.
- Improved comfort: Say goodbye to cold spots and enjoy consistent, even heating throughout your home.
- Reliability: A new system means fewer breakdowns and repairs, giving you peace of mind during the winter months.
- Eco-Friendly options: Modern heaters are better for the environment, with higher energy-efficiency ratings and cleaner technology.

Signs Your Heater Needs a Replacement
When cold weather hits, the last thing you want is a heating system that can’t keep up. Your heater plays a crucial role in keeping your home warm and comfortable, but like any appliance, it won’t last forever. If your heater has been acting up, you might be wondering if you should repair it or replace it altogether.
To help you decide, here are some telltale signs that your heater might need a replacement:
Your Heater Is Over a Decade Old
The age of your heater is one of the biggest factors to consider. Most heating systems, like furnaces or heat pumps, last around 10–15 years with proper maintenance. If your heater is creeping past the 10-year mark, it’s likely becoming less efficient and more prone to breakdowns. Upgrading to a newer model can save you money on repairs and improve your home’s energy efficiency.
Rising Energy Bills
Have your heating bills been steadily climbing, even though your usage hasn’t changed? An aging or inefficient heater might be to blame. Over time, heaters lose their ability to operate efficiently, meaning they use more energy to keep your home warm. A modern, energy-efficient heating system can significantly lower your monthly energy costs while keeping your home just as cozy.
Frequent Repairs
A few small repairs here and there are normal, but if you’re constantly calling our HVAC technicians, your heater may be nearing the end of its life. Multiple repairs can quickly add up, often making replacement a more cost-effective choice. A good rule of thumb? If repair costs are more than 50% of the cost of a new system, it’s time to invest in a replacement.

What is the life expectancy of my unit?Dependable Trane products are among the longest lasting heating and cooling products available. For your specific equipment, there are many variables that affect life expectancy, including, of course, the regularity of routine maintenance.
-
What does my warranty cover?Under the standard factory warranty, Trane covers parts that fail during the warranty period due to defect in the part. The warranty does not cover labor. A warranty certificate was included with your homeowner information packet, and is specific to the model numbers, serial numbers and installation dates of your products. All Trane equipment that we install is registered with Trane Corporation to ensure your 10 year parts warranty. If you cannot find your warranty certificate, Climate Control Heating & Air will also be able to provide you with that information. With a Climate Control Heating & Air Total Comfort Plan, you'll have a ten year parts and labor warranty on your Trane equipment.
-
Which Trane equipment will best fit my home? There are many factors that affect the sizing and specifications of your system, including square footage, insulation, window surface and configuration, geographic location of your home, duct sizing and arrangement, and many others. Climate Control Heating & Air can perform an in-home load analysis to determine which equipment combinations will perfectly suit your home and your family's needs. Depending upon the construction of your home, one (1) ton of air conditioning can cool anywhere from 300 to 800 square feet of home. The only way to ensure the size of the system you purchase will be large enough to heat or cool your home, but not any larger than you need, is to have your home's individual heating and cooling needs evaluated by a licensed professional.

Where can I get parts for my Trane equipment? As a Trane dealer, Climate Control Heating & Air is the best resource for identifying and supplying the correct, current parts for your system, as well as pricing and availability.
